Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions about Fuel Delivery services.

Is oil heat safe?
Yes, oil heat is very safe. Unlike gas fuels, heating oil will not support a flame unless the temperature is extremely high, above 140 degrees Fahrenheit. With home heating oil, there is not enough fuel vapor to cause an explosion.
What is the easiest way to make sure you do not run out of oil?
The easiest way to make sure you do not run out of fuel is to be on our Automatic Delivery Service. We will monitor and deliver to you automatically based on your usage. For our Will-Call customers, we recommend contacting us when your oil gauge is reading a ¼ of a tank.
What are the benefits of oil heat?
Oil heat is efficient, safe, comfortable, economical and environmentally biodegradable with no carcinogens.
Should I have my furnace cleaned and how often?
We recommend your furnace be checked and cleaned regularly, once a year by a qualified heating technician. Please refer to our 24-hour burner service page for more information.
Do I need to put an additive in my outdoor tank to prevent it from freezing in the winter months?
During the winter months, an additive, also known as a “hot treatment” is strongly recommended for all outdoor tanks. This will avoid the oil from “gelling” when outside temperatures reach 32 degrees or below for several days. The cost of a hot treatment is $14.95 + tax.
What size oil tank do I have?
A standard size oil tank is 275 gallons and holds about 260 gallons of oil. Tank size may vary depending on the overall size of your home and your specific heating needs.
